The Indian tech job market is intensely competitive. Whether you are applying to a product company like Flipkart or Razorpay, or a services firm like TCS or Infosys, your resume needs to pass through an ATS before a human ever reads it. This guide walks you through a complete software engineer resume example, section by section.

What Makes a Strong SWE Resume

A strong software engineer resume does three things: it passes ATS parsing, it communicates your technical depth quickly, and it quantifies your impact. Recruiters often make a first decision after a very quick scan. In that scan, they look for: relevant tech stack, years of experience, and recognisable company names or projects.

The format matters. Use a single-column or clean two-column layout. Avoid graphics, tables, and icons that ATS systems cannot read. Save as PDF unless the portal explicitly requires .docx.

Essential Sections

  • Contact: Name, phone, email, LinkedIn, GitHub. Skip your full address — city is enough.
  • Summary: Two to three lines with years of experience, primary tech stack, and one headline achievement. Example: "Full-stack engineer with 4 years building fintech products at scale. Led migration of monolith to microservices serving 2M daily transactions at Razorpay."
  • Experience: Reverse chronological. Each role gets 3-5 bullet points starting with action verbs. Quantify everything: "Reduced API latency by 40% by implementing Redis caching" beats "Worked on backend optimisation".
  • Skills: Group by type — Languages, Frameworks, Databases, Cloud/DevOps, Tools.
  • Education: Degree, institution, year, CGPA if above 7.5.
  • Projects: Include 1-2 significant side projects or open-source contributions with GitHub links.

Technical Skills Section

List only technologies you can confidently discuss in an interview. A common format:

  • Languages: Java, Python, TypeScript, SQL
  • Frameworks: Spring Boot, React, Node.js, Django
  • Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis
  • Cloud & DevOps: AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda), Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD
  • Tools: Git, Jira, Postman, Grafana

Experience Bullets That Work

Each bullet should follow the pattern: Action verb + What you did + Measurable result.

  • Designed and deployed a real-time notification service handling 500K events/day using Kafka and Spring Boot
  • Reduced deployment time from 45 minutes to 8 minutes by containerising services with Docker and automating CI/CD pipelines
  • Mentored 3 junior developers and conducted 50+ technical interviews over 12 months

Full Resume Example

Summary: Full-stack engineer with 3+ years building consumer fintech products. Experienced in React, Node.js, and AWS. Led frontend architecture for a payments dashboard processing ₹200Cr/month.
